UF cardiologist earns honorary doctorate

University of Florida cardiologist Dr. C. Richard Conti has been awarded an honorary doctorate from the Université de la Méditerranée in Marseille, France.

The degree, known officially as doctorat honoris causa, was given at the university’s scientific meeting Nov. 30. Conti was selected for his contributions to the management of coronary artery disease and his efforts to unite the American and European cardiology communities.

Conti is the Palm Beach Heart Association eminent scholar in clinical cardiology and a professor of medicine at UF’s College of Medicine. He is a past chief of the division of cardiovascular medicine and past president of the American College of Cardiology. Conti was one of three to receive the honorary degree and the only one in the biomedical sciences.
