UF dental researcher wins international research award
Won-Suck Oh, D.D.S., an assistant professor in prosthodontics at the University of Florida College of Dentistry, has received the International Association of Dental Research’s Arthur E. Frechette 2001 New Investigator Award.
Oh is the first UF dental school junior faculty member to win a major prosthodontic research award. The honor, which included a $1,000 reward, was presented to Oh at the annual IADR meeting, recently held in Chiba, Japan. His ongoing research, which benefits from collaborative efforts of the college’s prosthodontics and dental biomaterials departments, focuses on optimizing the design of ceramic-based fixed partial dentures.
“Oh’s award will help raise the college’s national reputation in biomechanics research, particularly in its application to fixed prosthodontics,” Kenneth Anusavice, D.M.D., Ph.D., associate dean for research and chair of dental biomaterials, said.
