UF faculty member edits obstetrics and gynecology textbook

University of Florida College of Medicine faculty member Patrick Duff, M.D., recently co-edited a book on obstetrics, gynecology and primary care of women.

“Obstetrics and Gynecology: Principles for Practice,” published this spring by McGraw-Hill, is the first of three books on the topic. Duff, a professor of obstetrics and gynecology, worked with Frank Ling, M.D., chairman of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, to edit the 68-chapter volume, which includes contributions from more than 40 authors. Duff focused on the obstetrics sections of the book, while Ling edited the chapters on gynecology.

In addition to serving as an editor, Duff wrote two chapters on cesarean delivery and infections in pregnancy.

The second and third books, which will be published this fall, focus on the same content, but in different formats. A condensed companion pocket version was designed for medical students and residents, and a study guide was developed to assist residents and private practitioners preparing for written and oral examinations. Duff and Ling also served as editors of the pocket and study guides.
