UF faculty member tapped to head microbiology group

Richard W. Moyer is slated to become the next president of the Association of Medical School Microbiology and Immunology Chairs.

Moyer is chairman of the University of Florida College of Medicine’s department of microbiology and molecular genetics, and also is affiliated with UF’s Genetics Institute and the Powell Gene Therapy Center. Moyer’s term begins in January.

The organization comprises 149 department chairs from the United States and Canada. The group seeks to further the educational and scientific purposes of the field and to provide a forum for communication among members.
