UF medical experts publish book on breast disease
A multidisciplinary team of faculty from the University of Florida College of Medicine recently published a book on breast disease.
“Breast Disease for Clinicians” was co-authored by Barbara B. Bennett, M.D., an associate professor in the division of gynecology, Nancy S. Hardt, M.D., a professor of pathology and obstetrics and gynecology, and former UF faculty members Barbara G. Steinbach, M.D., a radiologist who is now retired, and Linda S. Haigh, M.D., Ph.D., a general surgeon now in private practice in Mississippi. Bennett also served as editor of the book.
Published this summer by McGraw-Hill’s Medical Publishing Division, the book is designed to serve as an easy-to-read reference on a wide variety of topics related to breast care. The 15-chapter book includes information on the anatomy of the breast, cancer risk factors, pain, management of late-stage cancer, breast-feeding problems, male breast cancer, mammograms and silicone breast implants.
The collaborative effort produced a book that offers coverage of diagnosis and treatment for benign and malignant conditions. The book was written to improve communication between female patients and their health-care providers.
