UF pediatrician elected to serve on national association’s board of directors

University of Florida pediatrician Dr. Marilyn Dumont-Driscoll recently was elected to serve on the Ambulatory Pediatric Association’s board of directors.

An associate professor in the UF College of Medicine’s department of pediatrics, Dumont-Driscoll was elected to a three-year term by members of the association. Her responsibilities include the development, selection and evaluation of the society’s yearly workshops. She also will coordinate the activities of the association’s 30 special interest groups.

The special interest groups facilitate faculty development in medical education, research and administrative areas encountered by generalist practitioners and academicians. They are offered in a variety of issues such as medical student and resident education, injury prevention, literacy development, behavioral pediatrics, managed care, environmental health, child health advocacy, medical informatics, and school and community health.

Dumont-Driscoll, who also is the director of UF’s pediatric continuity clinic program, will continue to serve as co-chair of the organization’s continuity clinic directors special interest group, a position she has held for three years. She also has served as the Ambulatory Pediatric Association’s Region VIII co-chair, which encompasses several Southern states and Puerto Rico, and as the association’s representative to the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Interdisciplinary Advisory Council on Genetics in Primary Care.

Dumont-Driscoll also has been named to the annual program planning committee for the Pediatric Academic Societies, with a term through 2003.

The Ambulatory Pediatric Association was founded in 1960 as the organization of academic pediatric generalists to develop, facilitate and advocate for improvements in education, research and health care delivery.
