UF researcher appointed to prestigious fellowship

University of Florida health psychologist Suzanne Bennett Johnson, Ph.D., has been chosen for a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellowship.

Johnson, a professor in the College of Health Professions’ department of clinical and health psychology, will spend a year in Washington, D.C., learning firsthand about the health care policy-making process and working in a congressional or executive branch office.

Johnson is one of six fellows selected by the Institute of Medicine, an arm of the National Academy of Sciences.

Johnson is the fourth psychologist selected since the fellowships were established in 1973. Her fellowship begins in September.

Johnson is the director of the UF Center for Pediatric Psychology and Family Studies, and is associate chair for research in the department of clinical and health psychology. In this role, she oversees the department’s research and grants management system and acts as an advocate for faculty and student research.

Johnson’s health policy fellowship is funded by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, a national philanthropy dedicated to improving health and health care.
