UF researcher receives national honor for article

Murray J. Côté, Ph.D., of the University of Florida College of Health Professions has received a national award from the Healthcare Financial Management Association for an article he co-authored on predicting consumer demand for health-care services.

Côté is an assistant professor in the college’s department of health services administration. He and Stephen L. Tucker, Ph.D., a professor in the department of health care administration at Trinity University in San Antonio, received the association’s Helen Yerger/L. Vann Seawell Best Article award, which recognizes outstanding contributions to the professional literature in the field of health-care financial management. Winners are selected by a panel of their peers.

Their article, “Four Methodologies to Improve Healthcare Demand Forecasting,” was published in the May issue of Healthcare Financial Management magazine.

HFMA’s membership includes more than 33,000 financial management professionals employed by hospitals, integrated delivery systems, long-term and ambulatory care facilities, managed care organizations, medical group practices, public accounting and consulting firms, insurance companies, government agencies and other health-care organizations.
