UF Shands Cancer Center manager tapped to head nationwide committee
The Association of Community Cancer Centers has named a University of Florida Shands Cancer Center administrator to head a committee of cancer managers from across the nation.
Joseph Woelkers, M.A., associate director for administration for the UF Shands Cancer Center, recently was appointed chairman of the organization’s Administator Special Interest Group. His term, effective immediately, will continue through March 2003.
Under Woelkers’ leadership, the group will identify cancer-related topics of administrative concern that may need to be addressed by Congress and other rule-making organizations.
Members of the Association of Community Cancer Centers are affiliated with more than 650 hospitals, cancer centers, group practices and free-standing clinics. They strive to enhance the overall quality of cancer care and prevent restrictions on its availability.
