UF speech pathologist slated to be president of international society

A University of Florida speech pathologist is slated to become president of the International Neuropsychological Society.

Leslie Gonzalez-Rothi, a professor of neurology in UF’s College of Medicine and program director of the Brain Rehabilitation Research Center at the Malcom Randall Veterans Affairs Medical Center, is serving as president-elect until next February, when she will assume a one-year term as president.

Gonzalez-Rothi, who also is affiliated with UF’s Evelyn F. and William L. McKnight Brain Institute, is the first speech pathologist to be selected for the position since the organization’s founding in 1967. Her election was announced Feb. 13 in Chicago at the group’s annual meeting.

The International Neuropsychological Society is a nonprofit organization that unites researchers in various disciplines that contribute to the understanding of brain-behavior relationships. The society has more than 3,700 members throughout the world.
