Modi awarded national research fellowship

A University of Florida doctoral student has received a national award to fund her research in clinical and health psychology.

Avani Modi, a student in the College of Health Professions’ clinical and health psychology department, received a National Research Service Award from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. The fellowship is awarded to students who have the potential to become productive, independent investigators. Modi will receive an annual award of $25,750 for two years to support her dissertation research.

In her research, Modi examines the patterns of adherence to medical treatments for children with pulmonary disorders, including asthma and cystic fibrosis. By identifying the key barriers to adherence for these children and their families, Modi can design interventions to improve their compliance with medical regimens.
