Orthodontic residents awarded SAO funding
Three University of Florida College of Dentistry orthodontic residents have been awarded research funds from the Southern Association of Orthodontists.
Kary Nekula, D.M.D.; Shari Durrett, D.M.D.; and Lisamarie Brazeau, D.D.S., received $675, $625 and $610 respectively from the SAO’s Scientific Affairs Committee to help support their research projects.
Brazeau’s project is titled “Comparison of Post Treatment Changes in One-Phase versus Two-Phase Treatment of Class II Malocclusion.
Effects of Preoperative Ibuprofen, Anxiety and Gender on Post Separator Placement Pain” is the title of Nekula’s research, while Durrett’s project is “An Evaluation of the Efficacy of Composite Tooth Attachments in Conjunction with the Invisalign System using Three-Dimensional Digital Technology.”
Nekula, Durrett, and Brazeau plan to submit their projects for the SAO’s research competition. If selected, they will present their projects at the association’s annual meeting in October.
