UF cardiologist receives prestigious teaching award
University of Florida cardiology Professor C. Richard Conti, M.D., has received a prestigious teaching award from the American College of Cardiology.
Conti was presented with the Gifted Teacher Award at the organization�s 51st annual scientific session March 19 in Atlanta. The award is presented to an American College of Cardiology fellow who has made contributions to cardiovascular medicine through teaching.
Conti has been a UF College of Medicine faculty member since 1974 and is the Palm Beach Heart Association eminent scholar in clinical cardiology. He served as chief of the College of Medicine�s cardiology division for 24 years.
Conti's daughter and fellow UF cardiologist Jamie Conti, M.D., an associate professor of medicine, presented him with the award. She spoke of her father's career excellence and teaching ability.
"He has been my mentor, my teacher and my role model, as he has been to hundreds of others who have trained with him," she said. "He is a gifted communicator and educator, a teacher's teacher, and as such has earned this most prestigious award."
