UF College of Medicine students, resident and faculty members accepted into national honor society
Twelve University of Florida College of Medicine students, one resident and two faculty members have been elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society.
Current society members select inductees on the basis of academic standing, personal and professional character, service to the medical and local community, and potential for future contributions to medicine.
Fourth-year students Kendall Carll, Melanie Caserta, Noellee Clarke, Amy DeVore, Kristin Harmon, Richard Holt, Marc Inglese, Piper Keller, Shane Seroyer, Steven Taylor, Gregory Velat and Hillary Warren were selected Sept. 16 at the society’s annual fall election ceremony. They join Jeffrey Fromowitz, Jaima Hecomovich, Tara Irland Ezzell, Isaiah Johnson, Marc Peden and Shelileah Ramsey, who were chosen in the spring.
The top one-fourth of the medical class is eligible for election to Alpha Omega Alpha, but only one-sixth of the class can be selected.
One faculty member is elected to the society each year. Society members chose C. Craig Tisher, M.D., dean of the College of Medicine, to join. Another faculty member, Tammy Euliano, M.D., an associate professor of anesthesiology and a 1991 graduate of the College of Medicine, was this year’s alumni inductee. Obstetrics and gynecology resident Shireen Madani, M.D., also was elected.
The UF chapter of Alpha Omega Alpha was formed in 1960.
