UF veterinary hospital employs new emergency triage veterinarian

Area veterinarians who refer emergency cases to the University of Florida Small Animal Teaching Hospital are now able to work with a triage clinician to immediately assess a pet’s problem and quickly provide the animal appropriate care.

April Guille, D.V.M., has been hired as the hospital’s emergency triage clinician.

“Our surgeons may be in surgery when a referring veterinarian calls for information or to make an appointment,” said Colin Burrows, B.Vet.Med., Ph.D., hospital chief of staff and chairman of the UF College of Veterinary Medicine’s department of small animal clinical sciences. “With Dr. Guille on board, we hope to bridge that gap by having someone available to accept appointments, make immediate examinations of emergency cases and facilitate transfer to the appropriate service by day’s end.”

Guille is a graduate of The Ohio State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.
