Clement Lindsey, lab manager, Animal Care Services reties
Clement Lindsey, a lab manager for Animal Care Services, has retired after 41 years of service. His duties included hiring and training animal technicians, supervising employees and ensuring animals used in research received the best care possible.
“When a researcher needs to use an animal for a project, we’d help them select the best animal and set everything up,” Lindsey said. “We’d identify the animals, house them properly and get veterinarians to check them daily to ensure they were in no pain. All the researchers had to concern themselves with were the details of their projects, and we’d take care of the rest.”
Lindsey enjoyed seeing progress made in improving animal care during his time at UF. His retirement plans include possibly starting a private animal-care service.
“I’d like to keep busy, and I’ve worked with animals all my life,” he said.
