College of Dentistry dean names new associate dean for education
Professor Robert E. Primosch, D.D.S., M.S., M.Ed., chairman of pediatric dentistry at the College of Dentistry, has been appointed associate dean for education, effective Sept. 5.
Dean Teresa A. Dolan, D.D.S., M.P.H., announced the appointment last month. Primosch, who has served as an educator and patient-care provider at the college for 17 years, brings a wealth of personal integrity and academic credentials to his position as associate dean for education, Dolan said.
“I am more than confident Dr. Primosch will prove a capable and competent hand at the helm for our college’s continued academic success,” Dolan said.
Primosch succeeds Dolan, who served as associate dean for education from 1996 until her appointment as dean of the college in May of this year.
As the senior educational officer, Primosch is charged with serving as an advocate of student learning through advancing the educational needs of the college, developing institutional and curricular multicultural initiatives, and fostering faculty development and instructional support. Primosch will oversee all major functions of the offices of education, admissions and financial aid.
Primosch also will lead the search for a new chair for department of pediatric dentistry. Carroll Bennett, D.D.S., who served as the department’s inaugural chairman from 1973 to 1986, has postponed his retirement to serve as interim chairman as the college conducts a national search for a new leader.
