Dr. Frank Catalanotto, promoting dental education and access to care through national service

Frank Catalanotto, D.M.D., former dean of the University of Florida College of Dentistry and now a faculty member in the college’s pediatric dentistry department, is the new president-elect of the American Dental Education Association.

He will travel to the nation’s capital this month to meet with Bush administration health-policy advisers to discuss dental health care and dental education, access to care for the underserved, student loan forgiveness and expansion of Title VII training grants.

Selected by the association’s House of Delegates during its March 2003 Annual Session and Exhibition in San Antonio, Catalanotto will serve his term as president-elect in 2003. Catalanotto has been involved in national dental education issues throughout his career, including pediatric dentistry education, basic and clinical research, and community service.

In addition to his president-elect duties, Catalanotto just completed a term as chair of the American Dental Education Association’s Legislative Affairs Committee, which advises and lobbies on federal policies and appropriations related to dental education and practice. Catalanotto also was vice president for the association’s Deans of the Board of Directors.
