Jim Mehaffey, maintenance specialist retires
Jim Mehaffey, a maintenance specialist employed by the university since 1974, has retired.
Although Mehaffey’s Health Science Center responsibilities have included acting as a supervisor, his primary duties as a locksmith have not changed during his time here.
“I approached every day with a positive attitude and tried to please the customer,” he said. “Even when work got repetitious, it always held my interest. I always wanted to give it the best I could and do a good job.”
Mehaffey said he plans to travel and go fishing after retirement. “My wife and I love to fish, especially saltwater fishing,” he said. “We’re also planning to visit the mountains in North Carolina.”
