Myrna Courage, Ph.D., R.N., associate dean for academic and student affairs retires
Myrna Courage, Ph.D., R.N., began her career at the College of Nursing in 1973 as a clinical and classroom instructor and now is associate dean for academic and student affairs. She has served as administrator of the college’s student affairs since 1974, touching the lives of many nursing students over the years.
“I have begun to realize that slightly more than half of my life has been at UF,” Courage said. I am most fortunate to have had mentors, challenging students and colleagues invested in the education of our students.”
During her tenure, Courage contributed to many changes and milestones in the college’s educational mission, including the addition of doctoral degree programs, the expansion of master’s degree programs, the development of a cooperative Ph.D. with North Florida universities, and accelerated curricular options, initiatives designed to increase the number of well-educated nursing professionals.
After retirement, Courage and her husband will move to Crescent Beach, where they have been renovating their beach house.
