National honor society inducts five UF medical students
Five University of Florida College of Medicine students have been selected for admission into the national medical honor society Alpha Omega Alpha.
Third-year students Jeremy Archer, Michael Falcone, John Peterson, Scott Rose and Jeffrey Testani were inducted at a May banquet, which included a keynote speech by Parker Small, M.D., a UF professor of immunology and microbiology.
“Acceptance into the AOA is very prestigious — it’s the Phi Beta Kappa of the medical world,” Small said. “UF’s College of Medicine is unbelievably fortunate in that we get the very best students, and those honored at the banquet have achieved the highest academic success amongst a group of total stars.”
The UF chapter of AOA was established in 1960. Students must be in the final semester of their third year and in the top 25 percent of their class to be eligible for induction. Selection is made by current student and faculty society members, and is based on academic achievement, personal character, and service to the university and community.
