UF health services researcher named to governor’s task force
University of Florida researcher R. Paul Duncan, Ph.D., a nationally known expert on health insurance and the uninsured, has been appointed by Gov. Jeb Bush to the newly created Governor’s Task Force on Access to Affordable Health Insurance.
The Louis C. and Jane Gapenski professor and chairman of the department of health services administration at the UF College of Health Professions, Duncan is among 15 task force members who will provide recommendations on improving access to affordable health insurance while maintaining consumer choice. The task force members also will examine factors that contribute to the increased cost and lack of accessibility of health insurance in Florida.
More than 2.8 million Floridians lack health insurance, and 55 percent say they are uninsured because they can’t afford it.
