UF's Curry named editor-in-chief of national patient-care journal
Teaching has always held a special fascination for University of Florida community health and family medicine Professor and Chairman R. Whit Curry Jr., M.D., and now he'll help inform a nationwide "classroom" of private-practice physicians.
In September, Curry was appointed editor-in-chief of Patient Care, a journal that serves family practitioners and general internists, summarizing the latest research findings and clinical advances. The monthly journal is distributed free of charge to doctors' offices nationwide.
"It's a challenge to look at the way physicians learn," Curry said. "Our readers don't have a lot of time to read the traditional medical journals. So our charge is to figure out how to provide important new information that impacts their practice in a way that they're going to read it."
