Public Health and Health Professions/Nursing/Pharmacy Complex design recognized by city
The University of Florida Public Health and Health Professions/Nursing/Pharmacy Complex recently took top honors at the 2004 Gainesville City Beautification Awards.
The annual awards recognize building projects of outstanding aesthetic and artistic appeal. Projects are evaluated on the basis of originality, innovation, creativity, long-term strategy, maintenance and use of serviceable materials, with a resulting improvement of the area, property or neighborhood.
The complex, which opened last spring, received a gold award in the beautification awards’ institutional facilities category. The 173,133-square foot facility houses education, administrative and research space for the colleges of Public Health and Health Professions, Nursing and Pharmacy. Features include individual entrances for each of the colleges, a 500-seat auditorium and shared classrooms, lecture halls and teaching laboratories. Faculty and staff offices occupy upper floors and a covered walkway links the complex to the Health Science Center.
