UF student receives national trainee travel award
University of Florida graduate student Lisa McTeague is among eight students nationally to receive trainee travel awards from the Anxiety Disorders Association of America.
McTeague, a doctoral student in the department of clinical and health psychology in the College of Public Health and Health Professions, received a $1,500 travel and expense stipend to attend the association’s annual conference this month in Miami, as well as admission to the invitation-only scientific research meeting and awards luncheon. Award winners were selected based on their commitment to the field of anxiety disorders, strength of current training, and quality of research or clinical experiences.
In her research, McTeague examines the patterns of emotional processing in fear and anxiety disorders. She is involved in a number of studies that explore not only how a patient explains his or her emotional reactions, but also how the body reacts during an emotional response. McTeague’s research is conducted under the mentorship of clinical and health psychology faculty members Peter Lang, Ph.D., and Margaret Bradley, Ph.D.
