University of Florida graduate student receives grant to support psychology research

Eleni Dimoulas, a doctoral student in the University of Florida College of Public Health and Health Professions’ department of clinical and health psychology, has received a grant to support her research on mental health treatment for people with low incomes.

As the recipient of a graduate student research award from the American Psychological Association Division 38 (Health Psychology), Dimoulas will receive $1,200.

In her research, Dimoulas examines how low-income individuals with anxiety and depression access mental health treatment and to what extent the treatment quality is predicted by the type of anxiety or depression, where the treatment is received, and demographic information such as age, gender and race. She will focus her research specifically on people with anxiety and depression enrolled in the Florida Medicaid program.

Dimoulas’ research is conducted under the mentorship of Robert Frank, Ph.D., dean of the College of Public Health and Health Professions and director of the Florida Center for Medicaid and the Uninsured.
