University of Florida researchers edit books on new areas of health psychology

Robert Frank, Ph.D., dean of the UF College of Public Health and Health Professions, and Ronald Rozensky, Ph.D., chairman of the college’s department of clinical and health psychology, are both lead editors of recently published books illustrating the important part psychology plays in the health of people, families and communities.

Frank’s book, “Primary Care Psychology,” examines the role of psychology in the delivery of primary health care. The book explores new opportunities for psychologists to work alongside primary care providers and with their patients to offer comprehensive health care. Chapters provide strategies for implementing psychological services in primary care settings, psychological care for specific patient populations, and highlight the effect health policy has on practice and resource allocation.

Rozensky’s book, “Psychology Builds a Healthy World,” highlights ways in which psychologists can contribute to healthy families, communities and workplaces through new areas of research and practice. The book’s chapters feature programs to prevent illness, injury and trauma, services to assure that communities develop healthy environments, and examines work place-family relationships and stress reduction.

Both books are published by the American Psychological Association.
