Andresen selected for national disability committee
Elena Andresen, Ph.D., of UF's College of Public Health and Health Professions, has been named to the Institute of Medicine's Committee on Disability in America.
Andresen, a professor and chief of the division of epidemiology in the college's department of health services research, management and policy, will be among a group of disability experts whose task is to review the new literature and developments since the Institute of Medicine's report "Disability in America" was published in 1991.
The committee will examine continuing gaps in disability science and the evidence base for public and private actions to reduce the impact of disability on individuals and society. During the committee's nine-month term, the group will also organize a workshop and publish a report on disability issues related to policy, trends, aging and recent scientific developments.
