Fuller wins 2005 Young Investigator Award

University of Florida faculty member David Fuller, Ph.D., is one of four winners of the 2005 Young Investigator Awards sponsored by the American Physiological Society.

The awards recognize society members who have demonstrated outstanding potential in the field of physiology. A $20,000 prize will be made to UF on behalf of Fuller.

Fuller, an assistant professor in the department of physical therapy at UF's College of Public Health and Health Professions, investigates how adaptations in the brain and spinal cord influence control of respiratory muscles. Improved respiratory muscle control may help patients with spinal cord injury decrease their dependence on mechanical ventilators and enhance their quality of life.
