Dental faculty named teachers of the year

Karl-Johan Soderholm, L.D.S., Odont. Dr., a professor of materials science, and Henry A. Gremillion, D.D.S., a professor of orthodontics and director of the Parker E. Mahan Facial Pain Center, have each been named a University of Florida College of Dentistry Teacher of the Year - Soderholm in the basic science category and Gremillion for clinical science.

Both were acknowledged during the university's Faculty Awards Banquet in April, and each received $2,000 and a plaque.

Each year, dental students in the sophomore, junior and senior D.M.D. classes select two professors for the awards based on their innovative course design and/or instruction and effectiveness in teaching. This is the second time Gremillion has been honored as Teacher of the Year; his first award was received in 2002.
