WHO: The Shands Arts in Medicine program, one of the largest and most comprehensive arts-in-medicine programs in the U.S., is staffed by artists-in-residence, volunteers and an administrative team dedicated to transforming the healthcare environment through the arts. Our goal is to improve the experience for our patients and visitors, and for our caregivers and staff.

WHY: Arts-in-healthcare is a diverse, multidisciplinary field dedicated to transforming the healthcare experience by connecting people with the power of the arts at key moments of their lives. Arts and Health Month in November provides an opportunity for organizations and individuals worldwide to promote the integration of the arts-including literary, performing, and visual arts and design-into a wide variety of healthcare and community settings for therapeutic, educational, and expressive purposes. The Shands AIM team is hosting our first Arts and Health Festival themed Approaching Health Creatively to honor this inaugural National Arts and Health Month. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Alie Wickham at (352) 733-0880.
