Celebration of Success

Since the program began in the mid-1990s, 532 patients have received donor lungs. Also speaking (second from left in the first row) was District 14 Florida State Sen. Steve Oelrich, who stressed the importance of organ donation. Also leading the event were Maher Baz, M.D., medical director of the Lung Transplant Program; John W. Walsh, president and CEO of the Alpha-1 Foundation and Michael L. Good, M.D., dean of the College of Medicine. Read more about the people who have gotten a second chance at life through lung transplants, and how they've given back to their fellow patients.
