College’s 4th annual Healthy Horses Conference is April 9

The University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine will host its 4th annual Healthy Horses Conference from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. April 9. The event is focused on successful equine health care and will offer lectures, lunch and live equine demonstrations.

This year’s topics will include poisonous plants for horses, lameness evaluation, colic, hoof care, non-sweaters, supplements and emerging infectious diseases.

A high-speed treadmill demonstration and a reproduction demonstration with pregnancy ultrasound will be featured, along with tours of the UF Large Animal Hospital. The presenters will predominantly be the board-certified UF faculty and a brief summary folder of the lectures will be provided to all attendees.

“The University of Florida is dedicated to improving owner education and this conference is a wonderful opportunity to see our hospital facility and meet veterinarians from all of our services,” said conference coordinator Amanda House, D.V.M., an assistant professor of large animal clinical sciences at UF. “Plenty of time for questions will be provided. Registration is limited and can be completed online; we are asking those interested in attending to register soon to guarantee a space.”
