Update: Persons with Guns

This afternoon at approximately 2 p.m., University of Florida police responded to the Shands at the University of Florida visitor parking garage at the intersection of Archer Road and Newell Drive in Gainesville, Florida after two men began arguing with a woman, and one displayed a weapon. According to the University Police Department, one unarmed suspect has been apprehended. Police are still searching for an armed black man wearing a white T-shirt, who is believed to have left the campus area. The garage is secure and has been reopened. Anyone with additional information is advised to call 352-392-1111. Appropriate law enforcement personnel are on the scene, and we continue to follow our standard safety precautions for our patients, visitors and employees.
