College to host annual Open House on April 5

Teddy bear clinic
The ever-popular teddy bear clinic at the UF College of Veterinary Medicine's traditional open house event will once again be available to kids who wish to bring their stuffed animals for repair.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine will host its popular Open House event this year from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 5, promising a full day of educational demonstrations, tours and more.

The free family-friendly event, to be held at the college, 2015 SW 16th Ave. in Gainesville, is organized by third-year UF veterinary students with support from the college and sponsors. Snacks and College of Veterinary Medicine merchandise will be sold, with proceeds benefiting UF veterinary students.

Guided tours of the UF Veterinary Hospitals will be available, and numerous educational exhibits will take place throughout the day. Many of the talks and demonstrations will highlight medical techniques used by UF veterinarians to treat animals. Pre-veterinary school advisory sessions will be held at various times in the main auditorium.

Local food trucks will be on hand, and children can bring torn stuffed animals for repair at a teddy bear clinic.
