John Hollingsworth named chief quality officer for UF Health clinical enterprise

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — John M. Hollingsworth, M.D., has been named chief quality officer for the UF Health clinical enterprise. He begins this newly created system-level leadership position on Jan. 1.

Hollingsworth, who has served as chief quality officer for UF Health Shands and UF Health Physicians since August 2024, will be responsible for advancing clinical quality, patient safety, patient experience and regulatory performance across the UF Health system.

Before joining UF Health, Hollingsworth established a track record of improving clinical quality and promoting patient safety across teams and disciplines in health care systems at University of Michigan Health and NorthShore University HealthSystem in Evanston, Illinois.

“Dr. Hollingsworth will lead the design and execution of systemwide quality strategies that align with our mission of clinical excellence, academic distinction and high-impact research,” said John D. Phipps, M.D., UF Health’s chief clinical officer. “His broad experience and expertise will provide unified leadership and accountability for quality across all locations.”

This new role will support both inpatient and outpatient settings, and Hollingsworth will work closely with regional chief quality officers, chief medical officers, chief nursing officers and faculty practice plan leaders throughout Florida. He will push for continuous improvement, maintain accreditation readiness across hospital and other care sites and oversee system analytics, reporting insights on performance trends and strategic priorities.

“I’m energized to work alongside our outstanding teams across the UF Health system to build on our strengths, elevate our performance, and ensure that every patient receives exceptional careregardless of where they enter our organization,” said Hollingsworth, a board-certified urologist with leadership experience in both academic and community health systems and former faculty member at the University of Michigan Medical School and the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. “Clinical excellence across every site is essential to our vision for UF Health as Florida’s premier health system.”
