UF Health Flagler Hospital earns an ‘A’ for safety
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — UF Health Flagler Hospital has earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from the Leapfrog Group, a leading national nonprofit ratings agency that evaluates safety and quality in hospitals and outpatient surgery centers.
The grade recognizes the hospital’s performance in protecting patients from preventable harm and medical errors.
“This achievement reflects the dedication of our team members, who make patient safety a priority in every interaction,” said Wayne Marshall, president of UF Health St. Johns. “Recognition like this reinforces our commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, compassionate care and helps guide how we continue to grow and strengthen care for the communities we serve.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade focuses exclusively on preventing patient harm. The peer-reviewed, public program assigns letter grades twice a year. This “A” rating marks a significant advancement for UF Health Flagler Hospital, reflecting the impact of ongoing quality improvement efforts across the organization, including enhanced patient experience and a continued focus on preventing hospital-acquired infections.
It also marks a second national recognition this week of the hospital’s commitment to continuous improvement, following an increase in its Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) star rating from two stars to three.
The Leapfrog Group, founded in 2000, collects and reports data on hospital performance and assigns safety grades based on measures tied to errors, injuries, accidents and infections.
