Your UF Health prostate cancer team includes urologic surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists and pathologists. We work with you to develop the best course of action for your specific diagnosis, always keeping your goals and preferences in mind.
What is the process when coming to the prostate cancer clinic?
Our patients come to us at every stage of their prostate cancer. Whether we treat you from the start or offer a second opinion, our goal is the same: get you back to living your life fully without the worry of prostate cancer. Depending on where a patient is on their diagnosis and treatment journey we will recommend a individualized treatment plan.
The first step in diagnosing prostate cancer is evaluating a PSA test. If the PSA level is elevated, we recommend a prostate biopsy. At UF Health we offer the most advanced prostate biopsy techniques such as our MRI Fusion Prostate Biopsy Program and transperineal biopsies.
After testing, biopsy and potential further exploration is completed, we will determine the type of prostate cancer and whether it is localized and advanced.
Whether your prostate cancer is localized or advanced, we offer the latest treatments available for prostate cancer and have a multidisciplinary team that works together to treat not only the cancer, but you as whole.
