Central Mechanisms of Chronic Pain and Fatigue: Functional Imaging of Brain and Spinal Cord

Purpose

The purpose of this research study is to evaluate the changes in brain and spinal cord activity that can occur with the feeling of painful experimental sensations in your skin or muscles. Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) will be used to measure areas of your brain and spinal cord that become activated by repetitive mildly painful stimuli to your skin or muscle. We are currently enrolling participants who have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, chronic pain, or chronic fatigue. Participants will be asked to fill out questionnaires and complete sensory testing of your pain sensitivity. Compensation is provided.
