Congenital Heart Surgery
Sometimes, a patient's injuries or condition are too severe for standard medicinal or rehabilitative treatment. When this happens, the patient may require surgery. Congenital Heart Surgeons specialize in treating congenital heart disease, a problem with the heart's structure and function that is present at birth.
Surgery may require the patient to stay in the hospital from one to several days or longer. However, with modern techniques and instruments, many surgeries today do not require the patient to stay overnight. Many times, the patient may be released the same day.
The goal for all UF Health surgeries is to provide a safe and comfortable experience while undergoing a surgery.
