Pain is one of the most common reasons for someone to seek medical care. Our mission is to lead you back to full health and increase mobility and functionality through safe and effective treatments. We strive to deliver the highest-quality care possible and facilitate ground-breaking discoveries in clinical, translational and basic research.

At UF Health Pain Medicine, we understand that different types of pain require different types of treatment. We aim to focus holistically on each patient's unique needs. Our collaborative approach involves our patients, their primary care providers and other specialists to find the best treatment strategies for their pain. Our physicians work closely with patients to choose the right treatment plan and non-opioid solutions to pain.

Often, this involves specialists such as physical therapists, occupational therapists, mental health specialists, neurosurgeons and orthopaedic surgeons. Additionally, we use interventional treatments and a combination of different therapies that will help you achieve improved quality of life. Our comprehensive treatments include steroid injections, facet procedures, nerve blocks, chronic pain rehabilitation and more.

Your first appointment

Your team of pain medicine specialists will evaluate you and recommend a plan to address your specific problem:

1. Understand history

Complete the questionnaire about your pain-related issues with as much detail as possible.

2. Provide recommendations

Provide and discuss your medical history with one of our providers. A physician may ask to perform a physical exam.

3. Treatment plan

The experts at UF Health Pain Medicine are dedicated to providing thorough evaluations and treatment plans individualized for each patient.

If you have received care or imaging studies outside of UF Health, please bring all relative treatment records, X-ray or MRI studies and their interpretations to help expedite the diagnosis and treatment of your condition.

Your care team is composed of specially trained physicians in anesthesiology and pain medicine, as well as advanced registered nurses and staff.
