About me
Hello, I’m Dr. Rhiannon Pitkin. For over 25 years, I've had the privilege of practicing audiology in two different countries — the United States and the United Kingdom. I’ve been dedicated to helping people of all backgrounds navigate the challenges of hearing loss because I strongly believe that everyone deserves the ability to communicate effectively, regardless of age, culture or economic status. My area of focus is predominantly focused on pediatric diagnostics, where I strive to create a welcoming and family-friendly environment. By gathering comprehensive clinical information about each child's hearing, I empower families to make informed decisions about the most effective therapeutic options for their child's unique needs.
My journey into audiology has been a fascinating one. It began with a Bachelor of Science in Physics from DeMontfort University in 1994. During my undergraduate degree, I discovered my passion for audiology through a work placement, which led me to pursue a Master of Science in Audiology from the University of Southampton in 1997. Following this, I was employed by the Royal Navy, where I honed my skills and obtained invaluable experience. In 1999, recognizing the importance of supplementary knowledge in acoustics, I obtained a Diploma of Acoustics from the Institute of Acoustics to support my teaching responsibilities at the time. This foundational education set the stage for my transition into clinical audiology.
My academic journey culminated in earning a Doctor of Audiology from the University of Florida in 2010, solidifying my commitment to the field and preparing me to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those with hearing impairments.
Beyond my professional pursuits, I find joy in traveling and making new memories with my family. Despite the demands of my teenage children’s many sports and hobbies, we always make time to enjoy our shared love for water activities like swimming, diving and snorkeling.
I'm eager to continue making a positive impact in the world of audiology and helping my patients hear their best.
