Sharon Gavin, MD

Sharon GavinSharon Gavin, MD graduated from the University of Florida College of Medicine in 1993, where she was named outstanding student in family medicine. She then trained in family medicine at UF, where she served as chief resident during her third year. Dr. Gavin then joined the faculty at UF, serving at both the Hawthorne Family Medicine Clinic and with the Emergency Department at UF Health Shands Hospital through 1999.

In 2000, Dr. Gavin joined the UF Family Medicine at Haile Plantation practice, where she served as outpatient clinician, medical student and family medicine resident teacher for 10 years. During this time she was honored as outstanding physician for her compassionate approach to patient care by the Alachua General Hospital staff, as well as Outstanding Outpatient Clinician by AVMED. In addition, she simultaneously served as a certified ACLS instructor, volunteered in the Equal Access Clinic and served as a volunteer attending with UF medical student mission in the Dominican Republic.

In 2010, she joined the UF Family Medicine hospitalist team. This team blended with the UF Internal Medicine hospitalist group in November 2010. Since that time Dr. Gavin has served as a clinician on the UF hospitalist team with joint appointments in both the departments of medicine and family medicine. Her practice includes inpatient and outpatient general medicine with special skills that include the knowledge of American Sign Language.
