How to apply as a spring 2026 volunteer
In order to become a volunteer, you will need to complete the following four-step process. Further details and instructions will be shared during the Zoom information and onboarding sessions. All dates are subject to change without notice. Please check this page regularly for the most current updates.
Step 1: Register for a mandatory Zoom information session
- Registration is now open.
- Registration is first come, first served and will close once all 800 spots are filled.
- Openings typically fill within the first minute, so early registration is strongly encouraged.
- Choose one of the following sessions to attend:
- Session 1: Jan. 6, 2026 | 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Register for session 1.
- Session 2: Jan. 6, 2026 | 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Register for session 2.
Those who successfully register will receive a confirmation email from Zoom with login instructions.
Step 2: Attend the mandatory Zoom information session
These sessions will cover:
- Current volunteer opportunities
- Volunteer requirements and expectations
- Steps and deadlines to complete the application process
Do not miss your information session!
You must log in before the session begins and attend the full session to move forward in the onboarding process.
Step 3: Attend a mandatory in-person onboarding session
Mandatory, in-person onboarding sessions will take place Jan. 12, 2026 (location and times will be announced during the Zoom information session).
- Attendance at an in-person onboarding session is required to continue in the process.
- Onboarding sessions will take place at UF Health Shands Hospital.
- If you will not be in Gainesville by Jan. 12, please apply for a future semester.
Step 4: Finalize your volunteer placement
- Complete all remaining onboarding steps between Jan. 20 and Feb. 13, 2026 to secure your volunteer position.
Parking reminder
In order to provide parking for our patients and their guests, our garages are closed to UF and UF Health students, faculty and staff. Please utilize your normal methods of transportation to campus (i.e., busing, biking, walking). For additional transportation resources, such as scooters, campus connector and buses, please visit taps.ufl.edu.
