Volunteer Information Center Volunteer services Make a gift

Thank you for your interest in the UF Health Shands VolunTEEN Program.
This summer program gives high school students the opportunity to serve patients, families, and staff while exploring careers in healthcare.

Because we receive many applications each year, placement is limited and competitive. Not all applicants will be accepted.

The VolunTEEN Program is offered only at UF Health Gainesville.

Summer 2026 VolunTEEN application timeline

Step 1: Submit the online application

Application opens: Jan. 5 at noon
Application closes: Jan. 23 at noon

Complete the online volunteer application (available Jan. 5).

Step 2: Attend an information session

Attendance at one information session is required. These sessions explain program expectations and outline the next steps in the application process.

Feb. 4, 6 - 7 p.m.
Feb. 5, 6 - 7 p.m.

Step 3: Complete the interest form

Form opens: Feb. 6 at noon
Form closes: Feb. 20 at noon

You will receive access to the interest form during your information session.

Step 4: Interviews and selection

Interview invitations sent: March 9
Group interviews: March 31-April 2
Program decisions emailed: April 10
RSVP deadline for accepted students: April 24
