Gary P Wang, M.D., Ph.D., FIDSA - Background
Gary P. Wang, MD, Phd, FIDSA, is associate professor of medicine and chief of the division of infectious diseases and global medicine in the Department of Medicine at the University of Florida. Dr. Wang graduated from Temple University in 2001 with MD and PhD degrees in biochemistry and mechanistic enzymology. He completed Internal Medicine residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital, followed by an Infectious Diseases Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. Upon the completion of his clinical training, Dr. Wang pursued his postdoctoral research fellowship in Microbiology, Virology and Genomics with Dr. Rick Bushman at the University of Pennsylvania. He joined UF in 2009 as an Assistant Professor, became Section Chief of Infectious Diseases at NF/SG VA in 2014, and was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2016.
