Hospital price transparency helps patients know the cost of a hospital item or service before receiving it.

Hospital price list

  • A hospital price list is called a Standard Charge, or chargemaster
  • The standard charge includes the costs for all hospital services
  • Every patient’s hospital experience and need for care is unique. It could include any combination of services.
  • A surgical procedure and a hospital stay can include hundreds of service items

These prices are not your out-of-pocket expenses for a service. Your costs will vary depending on your insurance coverage and policies. Please contact your insurer to determine out-of-pocket costs.

Healthcare provider fees are a separate expense

The price list doesn't include healthcare provider fees. Your providers, such as your doctor or anesthesiologist, send a separate bill. You can request a personal price quote to calculate those added costs.
