UF faculty member to lead state psychiatric association
Dr. Wade C. Myers, an associate professor in the University of Florida College of Medicine’s psychiatry department, has been elected president of the Florida Psychiatric Society. His one-year term began in May.
The society has more than 1,100 members. As president, Myers will continue efforts to reverse the erosion of funding for mental health services, educate the public about mental illness and protect the integrity of clinical care delivery.
Myers also was recently appointed to a one-year term as vice chairman of the American Psychiatric Association’s ethics committee.
Additionally, he has been named to a three-year term on the editorial board of the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Myers is affiliated with the Evelyn F. and William L. McKnight Brain Institute of UF.
