Health Science Center employee honored for outstanding service

One Health Science Center employee has been honored with a universitywide Superior Accomplishment Award for her outstanding and meritorious service.

Marsha M. Swilley, a clerical supervisor at the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, was one of six recipients of this year’s award. At a ceremony this spring, she received $1,000, a plaque, a photo and a CD-ROM of the PowerPoint presentation that accompanied the ceremony.

The universitywide winners were selected from more than 100 division-level winners, each of whom received $200, a certificate and two program coffee mugs in recognition of their service.

“Marsha, with all of her humility, was speechless when they called her name,” said Eleanor Green, D.V.M., a professor and chairwoman of large animal clinical sciences at the College of Veterinary Medicine. “Of course, none of us who work with her was at all surprised. She is the heart and soul of the large animal reception office. In one of the hardest jobs in the university, she keeps the office running smoothly, making life easier for clients, referring veterinarians, faculty, residents, students and her co-workers. She is not only superior, she is essential.”
