ElderCare hosts fourth annual Meals on Wheels golf tournament

What: Polish your clubs and prepare to hit the links for ElderCare of Alachua County’s fourth annual Meals on Wheels Golf Tournament. Registration is $125 for an individual or $500 per foursome. Enjoy lunch and then tee off in a shotgun scramble starting at noon. All proceeds benefit the Alachua County Meals on Wheels program, which provides more than 300 meals for senior citizens every day. Background:
ElderCare of Alachua County is an advocate for the elderly and provides services to build capacity, maximize independence and enrich the quality of life for seniors in Alachua County and north central Florida. It is a 100 percent grant-and-donation-funded agency. Financial generosity and volunteer efforts allow the organization to serve approximately 29,767 congregate meals at six Alachua County meal sites and approximately 53,351 home-delivered meals to homebound seniors each year.
ElderCare of Alachua County will provide diverse programming for seniors at the new Senior Recreation Center, a state-of-the-art, 17,000-square-foot recreation and activity center that was completed this summer and is the first of its kind in the area. It features nine classrooms, a teaching kitchen, a large multi-purpose room available for rent, a courtyard and patio, fitness room and computer lab.
